Back to school? ALREADY?!? It’s hard to believe, but in many school districts, kids have already traded swimsuits and flip flops for spiral notebooks and pencil boxes. Fortunately, there are still three weeks left before school starts for my kids. But when the time comes, I will be armed with healthy and yummy school lunch ideas thanks to the Best Lunch Box Ever: Ideas and Recipes for School Lunches Kids Will Love (Chronicle Books).
During almost two decades as a magazine writer, I’ve received a lot of review copies—but few have excited me as much as this one. Perhaps it’s the stunning four-color photographs throughout the book. Maybe it’s because many of its 75 recipes, such as Pesto Pita Pizza and BLT Roll-Ups, sound like things my kids would actually eat. Or perhaps it’s the fact that my five-year-old son opened it up and instantly started oohing and ahhing.
